About Jun Kim

Description

When Jun went back to Korea last summer, it was his first time back in fifteen years. He moved to America to study as he stayed and made a place for his family. To his surprise, there was a street vendor, one that he ate from when he was in elementary school. Back then, there were many stalls lined up on either side of the street, and there were 5-6 tteokbokki vendors alone. He and his friends would always run through the market, fielding calls from the other vendors to come eat. It was difficult for them to ignore all of those vendors, but they always went to the one at the very end, because it was the tastiest. That was the one that continues to stand today, forty years later—even as all others are gone.It has been there for 40 years and still has the same couple operating it. For him, that was one of the most memorable meals he had when he was in Korea—not the best tasting, but it tasted like his childhood.
