Our Mission

The Problem: Cultural Disconnection

In today's rapidly globalizing world, cultural disconnection and lack of cross-cultural understanding remain significant challenges. The United States is becoming increasingly diverse, with projections indicating that by 2055, no single racial or ethnic group will constitute a majority, according to the Pew Research Center. Despite this growing diversity, a survey by the Public Religion Research Institute found that 75% of white Americans have entirely white social networks, with no minority presence. This illustrates a stark separation in everyday social interactions, which can lead to a variety of societal and individual issues.

Additionally, the assimilation of immigrants, particularly second-generation children, into a homogenized culture often leads to the loss of unique cultural identities. A study by the Migration Policy Institute found that while 78% of first-generation immigrants identify strongly with their cultural heritage, this drops to 44% in the second generation. These statistics highlight the urgent need for innovative solutions that bridge cultural gaps and preserve cultural identities.

Food is a fundamental aspect of all cultures and serves as a universal connector. Unlike other solutions that may feel abstract or one-time, food provides a tangible, relatable medium through which people can share and learn about each other’s cultures.

Recipe Rescue’s innovative approach to building multiculturalism through food provides a unique, engaging, and sustainable solution to cultural disconnection. By using food as a universal connector, the project fosters personal connections, ensures ongoing interaction, and bridges generational and cultural gaps in a way that other traditional methods may not. This comprehensive and inclusive strategy not only addresses the immediate problem of cultural disconnection but also lays the groundwork for a more cohesive and understanding community in the long term.

Our Solution: Food

Personal & Relatable

Sustained Interactions

Recipe Rescue's approach of collecting and sharing recipes and cultural stories creates an ongoing dialogue. This continuous engagement helps build lasting relationships and understanding.

Multigenerational Impact

By involving multiple generations in the sharing and preservation of recipes, Recipe Rescue bridges generational gaps and fosters a deeper appreciation of cultural heritage among younger generations.

Community-Centric
